How LASTMA averted fire explosion after petrol tanker fall
Lagos State Traffic Management Authority operatives on Tuesday averted a fire explosion after a petrol-laden tanker fell on the Stadium Bridge in the Surulere area of Lagos.
The tanker was heading towards Barracks/Ojuelegba on Funsho Williams Avenue when it tumbled, falling on a car on the bridge, causing panic and gridlock.
A press statement issued by the Director of Public Affairs and Enlightenment, Adebayo Taofiq, confirmed the incident.
It said. “A Conoil tanker, loaded with petroleum products had toppled onto a Volkswagen Golf car, spilling its content across the opposite side of the expressway.
“To prevent the risk of a fire explosion, LASTMA officials acted as the first responders and promptly alerted other emergency response units, including the LASEMA Response Unit and the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Services, while the driver of the Conoil tanker, Sefiyu Adamu, was arrested and handed over to the police for further investigation.”
