The Nigerian film industry has been thrown into mourning following the death of veteran Nollywood actress Tolani Akintunde, who reportedly passed away in the United Kingdom after suffering a heart attack.

According to online reports, Akintunde, who relocated to the UK some years ago with her daughter, died a few days ago.

The sad news was first made public by Seun Oloketuyi, media personality and convener of the Best of Nollywood Awards.

Akintunde, best known for her roles in early 2000s television classics Everyday People and Palace, was a respected figure in the industry before she moved abroad in search of greener pastures. While in the UK, she ventured into business and maintained a low public profile.
