I feel like lion ready to devour all criminals, says new IGP Egbetokun
Vice-President Kashim Shettima on Tuesday decorated Kayode Egbetokun with the rank of inspector-general of police (IGP).
Egbetokun was named the IGP on Monday along with new service chiefs after President Bola Tinubu had approved the immediate retirement of those occupying those positions.
The new acting IGP, Egbetokun, when asked about his feeling, said, “Now I have just been decorated and I am looking forward to taking over tomorrow morning by 11am.
“I really can’t describe how I feel presently, but if I have to tell you anything, I will tell you that right now, I feel like a tiger inside of me ready to chase away all the criminals in Nigeria. And at some other time, I felt like a lion in me ready to devour all the internal enemies of Nigeria. That’s my feeling right now.”
Brief profile
Egbetokun was born on September 4, 1964 at Erinja in the Yewa South LGA of Ogun State.
He started his journey into the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) in 1990 as a cadet assistant superintendent of police.
He was appointed chief security officer to Tinubu, then governor of Lagos State, in 1999.
