I posted pictures as received, Okonjo-Iweala replies critics over her photo with Tinubu
Director-General, World Trade Orgainsation, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, on Saturday posted on Twitter her picture taken with President Bola Tinubu at the just concluded Paris Economic Summit.
This came after she was called out on social media by some Nigerians why she left out Tinubu among pictures earlier posted that she took with world leaders at the summit.
After sending out her photo with Tinubu, many of the critics were not impressed, saying it came late and was an afterthought.
Okonjo-Iweala in her response said the attacks on her over her picture with President Tinubu were unnecessary.
She also said the controversy surrounding why her picture with President Tinubu was posted late indicated how polarised Nigerians had become.
The WTO boss stated, “Nigerians, please relax! Re Paris, Interesting attacks from both sides. This sadly shows the depth of polarisation in our society.
“I post photos in the order received by accompanying staff or colleagues. Reading more into it is unwarranted. Let’s unite to build our country, not attack.”
The Paris conference was convened by President Emmanuel Macron of France.
