A suspected woman, believed to be involved in ritual activities, was apprehended in Akure, the capital of Ondo State. Eyewitnesses reported that the 60-year-old woman, whose name was not disclosed, was caught in the Danjuma area along Isikan road. Commercial motorcyclists spotted her collecting female pads, which led to her being violently beaten and stripped naked.
Miss Adeola Oluwasegun, one of the witnesses, stated that the woman initially appeared mentally unstable to residents, as she wandered around the area with a small bag.

However, the situation changed when motorcyclists began shouting “Thief! Thief!” from a distance. They confiscated the bag and discovered panties, clothes, and soaked sanitary pads among her possessions.

The residents, angered by the discovery, subjected the woman to severe physical assault. She narrowly escaped being lynched, thanks to the intervention of some elderly individuals who took her away. The arrest revealed that the woman was found in possession of at least 12 soaked sanitary pads and underwears. Subsequently, she was handed over to officers from the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) for further questioning.
