Ibori’s daughter defends defection from PDP to APC as career-saving
Erhiatake Ibori-Suenu, the lawmaker representing Ethiope Federal Constituency in Delta State, has described her defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC) as a strategic decision to protect her political future.
Speaking during an empowerment event in Oghara, Ethiope West Local Government Area, Ibori-Suenu accused the PDP of trying to suppress her political ambitions. She expressed confidence that her move to the APC would strengthen her position and align with her goals.
Ibori-Suenu, the daughter of former Delta State Governor James Ibori, was among five lawmakers who recently joined the APC. While she hailed from the PDP, the other four defectors were members of the Labour Party.

In her remarks, she declared, “The storm that will destroy PDP has arrived. We will bury PDP in the Ologbo River, which bridges Delta and Edo States.
APC is my home, and it is supreme. The PDP sought to kill my political aspirations, but I’m grateful I have finally left.”
The lawmaker claimed her departure signaled the end of the PDP’s dominance in her constituency and the state. “With my exit, PDP is finished in Ethiope Federal Constituency and across Delta State,” she said.
Ibori-Suenu also expressed appreciation to her supporters and APC leaders, emphasizing her confidence in the party’s ability to drive progress and meet her political aspirations.
