ICPC releases D’banj 72 hours after detention

The Independent Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC) has released singer D’banj.

After almost 72 hours in custody, the Kokomaster was released on Friday with condition that he might be summoned at a later time by the commission.

The singer’s lawyer, Pelumi Olajengbesi explained D’banj cooperated with the Commission during its investigation.

Olajengbesi stated the pop star was released on self-recognition but didn’t confirm if he was on administrative bail.

“Nothing incriminating was found on him. He was released on self-recognition. Right now, we expect the ICPC to give a letter of clearance to Dbanj because, as we have always said, he is innocent of the charges brought against him,” he said.

D’banj was arrested and detained by the Independent Corrupt Practices and other Related Offences Commission, (ICPC) on Tuesday.

He was accused of fraudulently diverting millions earmarked by the Federal Government for N-Power project, an empowerment programme set up in 2016 to address youth unemployment and increase social development.
