ICPC to Arraign Mike Ozekhome Over Alleged UK Property Fraud Monday
The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) is set to arraign Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) Mike Ozekhome on Monday, January 26, 2026, over allegations of forgery, use of false documents, and fraudulent acquisition of a London property. The case has attracted widespread attention due to its international dimension and the involvement of a high-profile legal practitioner.
Ozekhome faces a three-count charge linked to the ownership of a London property at 79 Randall Avenue, NW2 7SX, which the ICPC alleges was unlawfully acquired through falsified documentation. According to the commission, Ozekhome forged a Nigerian passport in the name of “Mr Shani Tali” to support the property claim and subsequently used the false document in proceedings before the Federal Capital Territory High Court in Abuja.
The prosecution, led by Osuobeni Akponimisingha of the ICPC’s High Profile Prosecution Department, emphasized that these actions constitute serious violations under the Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Act and the Penal Code. The court has also noted that any application for adjournment must be properly grounded and filed promptly by the defense.

The property at the center of the dispute has a history of legal contention. It was previously associated with the late Jeremiah Useni, former Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), and featured in a UK property tribunal case involving competing ownership claims. The Federal High Court is now scheduled to rule on the final forfeiture of the London property to the Nigerian government, after no legitimate claimant challenged the interim forfeiture within the statutory period.
The ICPC’s move to arraign Ozekhome highlights the agency’s ongoing commitment to tackling corruption, forgery, and illegal acquisition of assets, whether within Nigeria or tied to international transactions. Observers note that the case could set a precedent for future investigations into cross-border property disputes involving Nigerian citizens.
This high-profile arraignment has also generated discussion on social media and news platforms, emphasizing the importance of legal transparency, the rule of law, and accountability of senior professionals in Nigeria.
