Igbo community in Lagos insists they won’t join protest

The Igbo community, traders, leaders and stakeholders in Ajeromi- Ifelodun Local Government Area of Lagos State have declared that they will not join any  protest.

Chairman of Ndigbo in AJIF Local Government Area of Lagos State,  Chief Akamigbo Nonso Papilo, said the protest may be hijacked by hoodlums.

He spoke a briefing in Trinity Market Olodi Apapa, Lagos State.

Papilo cautioned all Igbo community, traders, stakeholders against participating in the nationwide protest.

According to him, the local government chairman in AJIF, Mr. Fatai Ayoola, has been trying his  best through several empowerment programmes for women, youths, students , men, young and old people.

He said many members of the Igbo community in the council have been benefiting from most of the programmes, declaring there would be no protest.

The Ezendigbo in AJIF  lamented that the sad memories, watton destruction and killing witnessed during the last ENDSARS protest  in the area were still fresh and the entire Igbo community Ajeromi-Ifelodun never pray for such experience again.

He maintained the Igbo community  understands the hard economic challenges and  feelings which   Nigerians are passing  through especially the high costs of foodstuffs and social amenities in the markets, added no Nigerian is exempted from these economic challenges.

He  pleaded  with Nigerians to be patient with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s led administration.

According to him:  “Recognising the potential risks and consequences of such protests, we urge our followers to prioritise peace and unity above all else. Instead, we advocate for peaceful dialogue and constructive engagement with government officials to address pressing concerns.

“By speaking with one voice, we aim to promote national cohesion, stability, and progress. We believe that through collective effort and peaceful means, we can build a brighter future for our nation.”
