Yoruba Nation agitator Sunday Adeyemo aka Sunday Igboho has suspended the Yoruba Nation rally scheduled to hold in Lagos on Saturday.
He told BBC News Pidgin in an interview monitored on Thursday that the rally in Lagos had been suspended.
The suspension came hours after his residence in the Soka area of Ibadan, Oyo State, was attacked by gunmen.
At least five persons were reportedly killed and his wife kidnapped by gunmen during the attack that lasted about three hours.
It was gathered the gunmen who allegedly came in military camouflage arrived at the residence around 1am.
The attackers reportedly came in five army branded Toyota Hilux vehicles.
Unconfirmed sources said some of the victims included a wife of Sunday Igboho; a Muslim cleric said to be praying when he was shot and a female associate simply identified as Lady Kwere.
Hundreds of youths and supporters of Yoruba Nation on Thursday morning stormed Igboho’s Soka residence in solidarity on Thursday and reportedly found bullets shell littering the premises.
The main building and six other apartments of the compound were also found to have been ransacked with blood stains on different parts.
Many windows glass were shattered, furniture damaged with gunshot holes in different parts of the buildings.
The attackers were said to have taken away corpses of the victims and all injured in the attack.
