IGP Deploys Tactical, Intelligence Assets After Fresh Attack in Kwara

The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun has ordered the immediate deployment of tactical and intelligence assets to Kwara State following recent deadly attacks that left several communities in fear and mourning.

The directive comes amid growing concerns over the worsening security situation in Kwara, particularly in affected areas where residents were reportedly killed, injured, and displaced during the attacks. The police high command said the move was aimed at restoring calm, tracking down perpetrators, and preventing further violence.

According to police authorities, the deployment includes special tactical units, enhanced intelligence gathering operations, and strengthened collaboration with other security agencies. These measures are expected to boost surveillance, improve response time, and dismantle criminal networks responsible for the attacks.

The IGP directed the Kwara State Police Command to work closely with sister security agencies, community leaders, and local vigilante groups to ensure actionable intelligence is promptly shared and acted upon. He also ordered increased patrols and visibility policing in vulnerable communities.

The police leadership assured residents that those behind the attacks would be identified, arrested, and prosecuted, stressing that criminal elements would not be allowed to destabilise the state. Citizens were urged to remain calm and cooperate with security agencies by providing useful information.

The latest violence has renewed public debate over rising insecurity in parts of North-Central Nigeria, with calls on the government to strengthen security presence and address the root causes of violent attacks in rural communities.
