IGR: Lagos grosses N651bn, three northern states earn N29bn
The National Bureau of Statistics has released the Internally Generated Revenue by states in 2022.
The figures showed that while generated N651bn and leading all the 36 states with the Federal Capital Territory, a total of N29bn was cumulatively made by three states in the North.
The three states, Yobe, Taraba and Kebbi, are the least internally generated revenue, according to the report.
Lagos, Rivers and the Federal Capital Territory were listed as the most viable states in the 2022 IGR report.
According to the report, Lagos (N651 billion), Rivers (N172bn) and FCT (N124bn) generated the highest IGR in the period under review.
It specifically said Kebbi, Taraba and Yobe earned N9.146bn, N10.238bn and N10.456bn, respectively.
The NBS said a total of N1.93 trillion IGR was generated by the 36 states and the FCT from the revenue in the sub-category PAYE, direct assessment, road taxes, stamp duties, capital gain tax, withholding taxes, other taxes and local government areas revenue.
