Ilebaye’s father speaks on Abuja altercation, cites family dispute
Emmanuel Odiniya, father of former Big Brother Naija winner Ilebaye Odiniya, has provided further clarification on the viral altercation involving his daughter at their Abuja residence, saying the incident was rooted in long-standing family disagreements rather than hatred.
In a voice recording circulated online by journalist Jeremiah Ocheme, Odiniya said the disagreement stemmed from what he described as a gradual breakdown in communication and respect following her rise to fame after winning the 2023 edition of Big Brother Naija.
He insisted that he had supported her throughout the reality show, including mobilising votes during her time in the house. According to him, the family had played an active role in her success and public campaign.
Odiniya alleged that their relationship changed significantly after her victory, claiming that attempts to reach her frequently were unsuccessful. He said he had tried to schedule meetings and discussions multiple times but was often unable to secure access to her.
He also alleged financial and emotional strain within the family, claiming that requests for assistance during his illness were not met, while referencing public displays of wealth by his daughter on social media. These claims remain unverified.
The father further made accusations about past physical confrontations and disagreements within the household, as well as concerns about influence within the family. These claims have not been independently confirmed by authorities or other family members.

The Federal Capital Territory Police Command has since confirmed that members of the family, including both Odiniya and Ilebaye Odiniya, sustained injuries during the incident and are receiving medical attention while investigations continue.
