I’m working on strong opposition to displace APC in 2027 – Atiku

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has refuted claims that he plans to leave the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), emphasizing his commitment to building a united front to challenge the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 elections.

Speculation had circulated that Abubakar was considering switching to the Social Democratic Party (SDP) ahead of the next presidential race. However, in a statement released on Saturday, his media office dismissed the reports as false, calling on Nigerians to disregard the rumours.

The statement reiterated Abubakar’s stance on uniting opposition parties, including the PDP, to strengthen efforts to unseat the APC.

“We have observed that some news platforms are peddling unverified information that former Vice President Atiku Abubakar is abandoning the Peoples Democratic Party,” the statement read. “We wish to clarify that the so-called news of Atiku defecting to another party is a total fallacy that holds no merit in logic.”

The media office highlighted Abubakar’s role in fostering collaboration among key political figures, stating that the defection claims contradict the ongoing coalition-building efforts.
