Mrs Betty Anyanwu-Akeredolu, wife of Ondo State Governor Rotimi Akeredolu, has postponed her installation as the Ada Owere until further notice due to insecurity in Owerri, the Imo State capital.
This was contained in a statement by the Chief Press Secretary to Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, Mr Olatunde Richard.
The statement said Mrs Anyanwu-Akeredolu apologised for the inconveniences the postponement might have caused, adding that the conferment was in recognition of the contributions and giant strides of the governor’s wife in her home town and across the country.
The statement read in part, “Due to the high level of insecurity in Owerri, Imo State, Betty’s installation ceremony as Ada Owere has been postponed till further notice. Apologies for the inconveniences this may cause you and thanks for your understanding.
“The chieftaincy title would have been conferred on Mrs. Akeredolu on April 10, under the chairmanship of the former deputy governor of Imo State, Prince Eze Madumere.”
