Inauguration stage collapses in Kano as NNPP supporters boo emirs  

There was a mammoth crowd at the inauguration of the new Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf of the New Nigeria People’s Party.

This resulted in the partial collapse of the podium at the venue.

The people were said to be hanging on the pillars of the podium that made it to collapse.

The incident happened when Governor Yusuf was making his speech after the swearing-in and after the inspection of the guard of honour.

Meanwhile, the teeming supporters of the NNPP booed the Emir of Kano, Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero, at the Sani Abacha Stadium, venue of the inauguration ceremony for the new governor.

Daily Trust reported that immediately the first-class monarch arrived at the venue, the crowed started shouting.

A similar treatment was given to Emir of Bichi, Alhaji Nasiru Ado Bayero, younger brother of the Kano emir.

But security operatives quickly moved in and escorted the monarchs to their seats.
