The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Monday declared former Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Godswill Akpabio, as winner of the Akwa Ibom North-West senatorial election held on Saturday along with the presidential and other National Assembly poll.
INEC Returning Officer, Anthony Udoh, who announced the results said Akpabio of the All Progressives Congress (APC), polled 115,401 votes to defeat Emmanuel Enoidem of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who scored 69,838 votes.
Akpabio, a former governor of the state, had withdrawn the party’s presidential bid for Bola Tinubu.
