INEC unveils AI-powered training bot ahead of Anambra governorship poll

As part of preparations for the November 8 Anambra governorship election, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has launched an artificial intelligence-powered virtual assistant to boost staff training and operational efficiency.

The digital tool, named INEC Training Virtual Assistant or “INECTrainingBot,” was unveiled on Friday and is now accessible via Telegram.

According to a statement issued by the commission on X (formerly Twitter), the bot offers 24-hour access to election materials, interactive lectures, and on-demand learning modules, allowing electoral officers to train remotely and at their own pace.

“In preparation for the #AnambraDecides2025 election, the Independent National Electoral Commission is leveraging technology to enhance the capacity of its personnel and stakeholders,” the statement read.

Key features of the bot include round-the-clock accessibility, a user-friendly interface, and mobile learning capabilities.

In a related development, INEC announced that Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) would be distributed to eligible voters in Anambra State who registered during the last Continuous Voter Registration exercise. The distribution is scheduled to run from October 22 to October 26.

The commission also disclosed plans to conduct a mock accreditation exercise on Saturday, October 25, in selected polling units across the state’s three senatorial districts. The exercise aims to test the functionality of the upgraded Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) and assess the real-time transmission of results to the INEC Result Viewing Portal.

INEC reiterated its commitment to deploying technology to ensure credible, transparent, and efficient elections.
