INEC uploads 56.47% of Anambra governorship election results to IReV
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has uploaded 56.47 per cent of the results from the Anambra State governorship election to its Result Viewing Portal (IReV) as collation and announcement continue.
Checks on the INEC website at 4:40 p.m. on Saturday confirmed the update. According to the figures, results from over 3,200 out of 5,718 polling units where the election was conducted have been uploaded to the portal.
Meanwhile, an election observer from the Nigerian Civil Society Situation Room, Ms. Dimma Nwobi, has raised alarm over incidents of vote buying and security lapses recorded in some polling units in Nnewi South Local Government Area.
Speaking with journalists during the election, Nwobi described the activities of some political party operatives as “disturbing,” alleging that they were seen collecting voters’ cards and negotiating with voters in exchange for money.

“They are actually buying votes, negotiating. It is sad,” she said.
According to her, some INEC officials were allegedly providing forms to voters which were later handed back to party agents to deposit into the ballot boxes.
She added that a party agent, apparently angered by the irregularities, was seen confronting an INEC official at one of the polling units.
On security, Nwobi expressed concern over inadequate deployment of personnel, noting that only one police officer was assigned to four polling units in a local school.
“I have escalated the matter to our Situation Room so that more policemen can be deployed to the school,” she stated.
As of press time, collation of results was still ongoing across the state, with INEC yet to announce the final outcome of the governorship election.
