Inside the Intelligence Operation That Exposed Weapons, Vehicles Linked to Alleged Coup Plot

Nigeria’s security agencies have revealed how a coordinated intelligence-led operation led to the discovery of a weapons cache and operational vehicles allegedly linked to a planned coup plot aimed at destabilising the country.

According to security officials, the operation was triggered by credible intelligence indicating unusual movements of individuals suspected to be involved in subversive activities. The intelligence reportedly pointed to the stockpiling of arms and the use of specially designated vehicles to support an alleged plot against the government.

Security agencies launched weeks of covert surveillance, closely monitoring communication channels, meeting patterns, and logistics networks linked to the suspects. Investigators also tracked suspicious vehicle movements across multiple locations, which helped identify several safe houses where weapons and equipment were stored.

The breakthrough came after coordinated raids were carried out simultaneously in key locations. During the operations, operatives recovered firearms, ammunition, communication devices, and documents believed to contain operational plans. Several vehicles allegedly modified to conceal weapons and transport personnel were also seized.

Officials said the manner in which the weapons were hidden and the level of coordination observed suggest a well-organised network with defined roles and logistics structures. The vehicles, according to investigators, were intended to provide mobility and operational support during the execution phase of the alleged plot.

Several suspects have been arrested and are currently undergoing interrogation, while others are said to have fled. Security agencies are intensifying efforts to track down remaining members of the network, identify sponsors, and uncover possible funding sources.

Authorities stressed that the operation highlights the importance of inter-agency collaboration, intelligence sharing, and proactive security measures in safeguarding national security and protecting constitutional order.

The government has assured Nigerians that there is no immediate threat, reiterating its commitment to ensuring stability and warning that any attempt to undermine democracy will be met with decisive action.
