A clarion call has gone to the Federal Government to stop inviting foreign professionals to execute projects that local professionals are capable of handling.
This plea was made by a chattered land surveyor, Mr. Godwin Erhabor, in interview with News Trend.
According to him, the involvement of foreign professionals in the execution of massive Federal Government projects across the country to the detriment of indigenous professionals is not only worrisome but undignifying.
Erhabor opined that at best what the Federal Government should do is to make the local professionals understudy these foreign professionals.
He was however quick to add that some of these so-called foreign professionals are “mere technicians” in their countries of origin, noting that they are given preference over the local professionals because of the colour of their skin.
He wondered how the local professionals would grow if they were perpetually subjugated to their foreign counterparts.
Erhabor commended the new policy of government to give priority to indigenous professionals for jobs that they have comparative advantage.
