ISWAP Militants Storm Yobe Communities, Wound Village Head, Abduct Driver
Suspected fighters of the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) have carried out coordinated overnight attacks on Ja Jibiri and Ladu villages in Yobe State, leaving a traditional ruler injured, a civilian abducted and a health facility looted, according to security sources.
The attacks reportedly occurred around 12:20 a.m. on December 27, 2025, when armed insurgents stormed Ja Jibiri village, where they shot the village head, Lawan Hassan (45), on the left shoulder.
Security analyst and counter-insurgency expert Zagazola Makama disclosed that after the initial assault, the attackers moved to Ladu village, where they abducted Madu Kura, a 40-year-old Toyota Hilux driver.

The assailants also broke into the Primary Health Care Medical Centre in Ladu, carting away medical consumables, valuables and a Golf vehicle, further disrupting essential health services in the area.
Hassan was rushed to Geidam General Hospital for medical treatment, while security operatives in Yobe State have been placed on high alert. Authorities say surveillance has been intensified and efforts are ongoing to track down the ISWAP fighters responsible for the attacks.
The incident underscores persistent security challenges in Nigeria’s North-East, where ISWAP insurgency continues to target rural communities, traditional institutions and critical infrastructure despite sustained military operations.
