Jake Paul Hospitalised With Suspected Broken Jaw After Knockout Loss to Anthony Joshua
Jake Paul was taken to hospital with a suspected broken jaw after suffering a heavyweight stoppage defeat to Anthony Joshua in their much-criticised bout in Miami.
The YouTuber-turned-boxer went six rounds with the two-time heavyweight world champion but was unable to beat the count after being knocked down multiple times, including twice in the fifth and sixth rounds.
Paul later admitted he believed his jaw was “definitely fractured,” forcing him to miss the post-fight news conference. Most Valuable Promotions chief Nakisa Bidarian confirmed that the 28-year-old had been hospitalised for checks.
“We think he broke his jaw, but he’s fine,” Bidarian said.
“He took a shower and drove himself to the hospital. A broken jaw is common in boxing and MMA, with a recovery time of four to six weeks.”

Paul entered the fight as a huge underdog, attempting to use movement and speed to avoid Joshua’s power, but the significant weight and experience gap between both fighters attracted criticism.
The American, who has spent most of his professional career at cruiserweight, said he plans to take a break from the sport before returning to pursue a world title.
“We’ll heal the broken jaw and come back to fight people my weight,” Paul said.
“I’m going for the cruiserweight world title. I’ve been going hard for six years, so I’ll take some time off.”
Despite the defeat, Paul remains ranked by the WBA, having been listed at number 14 cruiserweight earlier this year, though he is expected to drop a place following the loss. A return to the division appears likely once he is medically cleared, possibly in 2026.
Potential future opponents include Manchester-based Pat Brown, an unbeaten prospect, while Paul has also reiterated his interest in a blockbuster bout against Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez. A rematch with Tommy Fury, who handed Paul his only other professional defeat, also remains an option.
Paul’s loss to Joshua marked another unpredictable chapter in his boxing career, reinforcing his stated ambition to challenge the sport’s elite despite setbacks.
