JAMB Halts Exam Town Selection for Ekiti UTME Candidates
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced the temporary suspension of examination town selection for UTME candidates in Ekiti State, following the discovery of structural issues in the configuration of exam towns.
In an official update, JAMB explained that the decision affects candidates currently registering for the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) who intend to sit for the exam within Ekiti. The suspension means that affected candidates will be unable to select examination towns until the review process is completed.

According to the board, the move became necessary after it identified anomalies in the arrangement of examination towns in the state. These issues, JAMB noted, could result in candidates being assigned centres far from their locations, leading to logistical and transportation challenges on examination day.
JAMB said the temporary measure will allow it to restructure and realign examination towns in Ekiti to ensure that centres are closer to candidates, more accessible, and properly distributed in line with its operational standards.
The board assured candidates that the suspension is not punitive and will not affect their chances of sitting for the examination. It added that the adjustment exercise will be concluded as soon as possible, after which the selection of exam towns will be reopened.
JAMB also apologised for any inconvenience the development may cause and reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring a fair, efficient and candidate-friendly UTME registration and examination process nationwide.
