Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Senator Godswill Akpabio, has threatened legal action against David Hundeyin, an independent investigative journalist, linking the murderer of job scam victim, Iniubong Umoren, to him
He asked Hundeyin to retract the story within 14 days with an apology or face a legal action.
But Hundeyin has replied by requesting that Airtel and MTN be authorized to release the voice note of the conversation between the alleged suspects instead of threatening him with lawsuits, saying it would end the matter.
In a letter dated Wednesday, May 12, 2021 addressed to the author of the article through BusinessDay Media organisation and signed by Akpabio’s lawyer, Otobong Inyang Esq, the minister had denied the publication that he and his wife, Unoma Akpabio, had been involved in the rape and eventual death of Umoren.
Akpabio stated that the publication which was not true, gave the impression that he and his wife were accomplices in Umoren’s death.
