JUST IN: 18-year-old activist who criticised Sokoto governor declared missing
Hamdiyya Sidi Sharif, the 18-year-old activist from Sokoto State who previously criticised Governor Ahmed Aliyu over insecurity, has been declared missing.
Sharif gained attention in November 2024 after posting a video criticising Governor Aliyu’s handling of insecurity and urging internally displaced persons to occupy the governor’s office in protest.
Following her remarks, she was arrested by the Sokoto Police Command and charged with “use of insulting or abusive language” and “inciting disturbance.”
