JUST IN: Atiku’s Rivers campaign DG, Abiye Sekibo escapes assassination, venue razed

Dr. Abiye Sekibo, Director General of the Peoples Democratic Party Presidential Campaign Council in Rivers State, escaped a gun attack on Thursday.

Gunmen dressed in police uniform were said to have opened fire on Sekibo’s bullet proof jeep at Rainbow town in Port Harcourt, the state capital.

Sekibo had gone to inspect the venue of the PDP presidential rally when he was attacked.

Speaking with reporters in Port Harcourt on Friday, Sekibo said his car was riddled with bullets and the venue of the rally set on fire.

“As we approached the site, those policemen who were watching the fire opened fire on our vehicle. I looked at the Hilux vehicles, they were police Hilux vehicles.”

The police have not reacted to the incident.
