Just in: Court halts workers strike, bars PENGASSAN, NNPCL from cutting supply to Dangote Refinery
A National Industrial Court in Abuja on Monday gave an interim order restraining the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN) and key government agencies from disrupting crude oil and gas supply to the Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Petrochemicals FZE.
Justice Emmanuel Sublim granted the ex parte application filed by the Dangote Refinery, temporarily stopping PENGASSAN from proceeding with its industrial action over an ongoing dispute with the company.
The court also barred the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA), and the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC) from enforcing any directive from PENGASSAN to halt crude or gas supply to the refinery.
Justice Sublim ruled that granting the interim orders was necessary to prevent potential irreparable damage to the operations of the Dangote Refinery.
The judge ordered that all parties be immediately served with the court’s restraining order and the originating processes in the suit.
The matter was adjourned to October 13, 2025, for hearing of the motion.
