JUST IN: Heavy security as Gov Fubara’s loyalists storm Rivers Assembly amid ‘impeachment plot’
Loyalists of Governor Similanyi Fubara have stormed the Rivers State House of Assembly amid the alleged plot to remove him.
The governor’s men were seen chanting songs in indigenous language on Monday morning.
Surrounded by some gun-wielding security operatives, they marched across the complex, causing commotion.

There are reports that Fubara is also within the assembly complex but Daily Trust could not confirm this as of the time this report was filed.
Earlier, Edison Ehie, a strong backer of the governor, was removed as the majority leader of the house.
Ehie was said to have frustrated initial move to commence impeachment proceeding against Fubara, who succeeded Nyesom Wike, Minister of Federal Capital Territory (FCT), less than six months ago.
Fubara and Wike have reportedly fallen out.
