Just in: Nnamdi Kanu to remain in DSS custody, Appeal Court rules

The Court of Appeal in Abuja on Friday ruled that leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, should remain in the custody of the DSS pending the determination of alleged terrorism suit and his rendition from Kenya to Nigeria by the Supreme Court.

The court therefore stopped the execution of its own judgment of discharging Kanu after faulting the rendition of the IPOB leader from Kenya and setting aside the terrorism charges preferred against him.

Justice Haruna Tsanami in the ruling on Friday upheld the application of the Federal Government and ordered that the execution of the earlier judgment be put on hold.

The Federal Government had applied that the execution of the judgment be suspended pending the resolution of its appeal lodged at the Supreme Court.

Justice Tsanami in the ruling held that the counter affidavit filed against the Federal Government application by Kanu’s legal team was misleading.
