JUST IN: Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Olakulehin, is dead
Ibadanland is in mourning following the death of its traditional ruler, the Olubadan, Oba Owolabi Olakulehin.
The monarch reportedly passed away in the early hours of Monday, July 7, 2025 just two days after celebrating his 90th birthday.
Oba Olakulehin, who ascended the throne on July 12, 2024, spent exactly one year as the 43rd Olubadan of Ibadanland. His brief reign followed the passing of his predecessor, Oba (Dr.) Moshood Lekan Balogun, Alli Okunmade II, who died at the age of 81 on March 14, 2024.

Born on July 5, 1935, Oba Olakulehin was installed by Oyo State Governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde, after rising through the ranks of the Ibadan traditional hierarchy from the Balogun line of succession.
