JUST IN: Three Edo governorship candidates pull out of race, give reason
Three governorship candidates in the Edo State gubernatorial election have dropped out of the race.
The development is coming barely three weeks to the gubernatorial election.
The candidate said they were shelving their gubernatorial ambition to support the All Progressives Congress (APC) flagbearer, Monday Okpebholo.
The candidates, who announced their withdrawal at a conference in Benin city on Saturday, said Okpebholo is the best candidate and will bring prosperity and development to the state.

They said they are sacrificing their ambitions for Okpebholo because of his vision and charisma.
Aside from the candidates, chairmen from five political parties have also publicly endorsed the APC candidate.
The endorsing candidates are Zenith Labour Party’s Bishop Akhalameh, Ugiagbe Sylvester of the Allied Peoples Movement, APM and Akhimie Kingson of the Action Democratic Party (ADP).
The five parties now supporting Okpebholo’s Governorship bid are NRM, ADP ,SDP, ZLP and APM.
