Kaduna: Police probe 4 officers that assaulted civilian in viral video

The Police Command in Kaduna has identified its four officers seen in a trending video assaulting a civilian even as it assured that investigation into the incident has began.

The officers were identified as Insp Ibrahim Daniel, Insp Ezekiel Marcus, Cpl. Isyaku James, and PC Paul Asha, all attached to the Surveillance Section of Kakuri Area Command in a statement issued on Tuesday by the spokesperson of police in the state, ASP Mansir Hassan.

He also said the scene of the incident has been identified as a known black spot in Kaduna South.

Hassan said the four police officers were being investigated over alleged professional misconduct.

“The command has responded to a trending video circulating on social media, showing officers assaulting a civilian in a manner unbecoming of officers,” Hassan said

He said the incident took place in a known black spot in Kaduna South.

“They are currently under investigation,” the command’s spokesman said

According to Hassan, CP Ali Dabigi has strongly condemned this act and assured the public that such misconduct would not be tolerated under his leadership.

He has ordered a swift and thorough investigation into the matter to ensure that justice is served and no stone will be left unturned.

“The CP also urges the general public to continue supporting the police by reporting similar incidents,” Hassan said. (NAN)(www.nannews.ng)
