Kaduna teenager imprisoned for assaulting sex worker
A Shari’a Court 1 sitting at Magajin Gari, Kaduna on Tuesday sentenced a 19-year-old man, Dahiru Usman, to one month in a correctional facility for assaulting a sex worker.
The judge, Kabir Muhammad, gave the accused an option of fine and ordered him to pay N70,000 compensation or face 12 12-month jail term.
The prosecutor, ASP Luka Sadau, stated that the nominal complainant, Zainab Idris, a resident of Kigo Road, New Extension, on January 15, reported the matter to Sabon Gari Police Station.

“That on the same date, at about 2:30 pm, you and Zainab agreed to meet in a hotel room located at Constitution Road for full-time service at the rate of N10,000.
“While you are in the hotel room, you had an argument and you, Dahiru started beating her and hit her with a hammer on the head which results to her sustaining injury,” he said.
The prosecutor presented the hammer which was recovered as an exhibit, praying the court to punish the accused accordingly and order him to pay N70,000 compensation.
The accused pleaded guilty to the offence bordering on assault and causing harm.
