Kaduna train attackers behind Kuje prison raid – Gumi’s aide

The dreaded Ansaru terrorists that attacked and abducted passengers of the Abuja-Kaduna train on March 28 this year are responsible for the raid Tuesday night on Kuje Prison, Mallam Tukur Mamu, media consultant to Islamic cleric, Sheikh Ahmad Gumi, stated this in Kaduna State on Wednesday.

Mamu said before the attack, he shared intelligence reports with authority concerns but they allegedly failed to act.

A section of Kuje prison wall was reportedly pulled down using explosives, with over 994 inmates of the prison freed including about 64 members of the Boko Haram terrorist group.

About five people were said to have been killed, and eight others injured.

Minister of Defence, Major Gen. Bashir Magashi (rtd), said 600 inmates of the prison escaped and 300 recaptured.
