Kano: Ganduje makes Governor Abba Yusuf Elders Council
Kano State Governor, Abba Yusuf, has named past governors of the state including his predecessor, Abdullah Ganduje, as members of a newly created elders’ council.
Yusuf said the council would serve as an advisory body to the state government.
Ganduje and Yusuf have been in conflict over the conduct and the outcome of the 2023 governorship election.
The Kano governor said the state is blessed with elders and leaders, who had achieved great successes in their careers.
The creation of the council came barely 24 hours after the Supreme Court affirmed Yusuf as the duly elected governor of Kano.
The governor said membership of the council would also include deputy governors, senate presidents, speakers of national and state assemblies, who are indigenes of the state.
Others are retired supreme court justices, retired appeal court justices, former chief judges of the state, former secretaries to the state government, and former heads of Kano civil service.
He added that traditional and religious leaders in the state are also members of the council.
The governor said the date for the inauguration of the council would be announced shortly.
