Kano Police Seize Massive Explosives and Arrest Suspects in Major Security Operation

The Kano State Police Command has intercepted a large cache of explosives and illegal drugs in coordinated operations across the state, reinforcing efforts to combat criminal networks and enhance public safety.

In a statement, the police said officers from the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) unit first seized sacks containing detonating cords, cannabis, and Exol tablets at a residence in Tudun Bojuwa Quarters, Fagge Local Government Area.

In a second operation in Gwale Local Government Area, officers intercepted a commercial tricycle transporting about 3,700 electric detonators. A suspect, Ibrahim Garba, alias “Manyan Baki,” was arrested and admitted that the explosives were being moved from Nasarawa State to other destinations.

Kano State Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, commended the officers for the intelligence-led operations, urging residents to report suspicious activities and avoid handling unknown materials.

The seizures mirror similar security crackdowns in neighbouring states, including Katsina, where police recently recovered thousands of detonators and gelatine explosives during a checkpoint stop. Security analysts say such operations demonstrate the growing importance of intelligence-driven policing in preventing violence and curbing criminal access to explosives.
