Katsina State Governor, Dikko Radda,  has approved a total of N680 million  for all the 34 local government areas in the state to renovate cemeteries, describing the initiative as both a public service and a means of seeking Allah’s blessings for the state.

Radda made the announcement on Thursday while hosting royal fathers from the Katsina and Daura Emirates, saying each local government will get N20 million for the renovation exercise.

He also unveiled a welfare package aimed at strengthening traditional and religious institutions.
Under a new law passed by the State House of Assembly, “all District Heads would now earn salaries not less than Grade Level 16,” the governor disclosed.

He further explained that 6,652 Ward Heads across the state will receive monthly allowances, while more than 3,000 Imams and their deputies from Friday Mosques will be supported with stipends.

Reiterating his government’s resolve to tackle insecurity, Radda noted that over 1,500 youths have been trained and equipped with uniforms, life jackets and operational tools to bolster security efforts.

He urged traditional and community leaders to raise public awareness, reminding citizens that lasting solutions depend on collective action.“Security is a collective responsibility, we must unite to protect our people,” he said.

Earlier, the Emir of Daura, Alhaji Umar Faruq-Umar—represented by the District Head of Baure, Alhaji Daha Umar-Farouq—expressed solidarity with the governor following his recent car accident in Daura.

The Wazirin Katsina, Sen. Ibrahim Ida, who represented the Emir of Katsina, Alhaji Abdulmumini Kabir-Usman, commended the governor for reforms that have “restored dignity to traditional institutions and strengthened their role in governance and community development.” He pledged continued support through prayers and cooperation to foster peace, unity and prosperity across the state.
