Katsina police arrests woman for stabbing her co-wife to death
Officers of the Katsina State Police Command have arrested a 23 year old woman identified as Rabi’a Labaran for stabbing her 30 year old co-wife, Zainab Lawal to death at the Sabon Gari area of Daura town, behind Dadi Primary School, in Daura Local Government Area (LGA) of the state.
The state’s police spokesperson, Deputy Superintendent (DSP) Abubakar Sadiq revealed that the incident occured on Saturday, May 24.
Sadiq mentioned that the incident occured as a result of a serious domestic dispute between both women.
He said, “On May 24, 2025, at about 2300 hours (11pm), a report was received at the Sabon Gari Division through one Nasir Yusuf, the husband, that he had returned home from the market and found his first wife, namely, Zainab Lawal a 30 years old, lying in a pool of blood; she had been stabbed multiple times with a knife.

“Upon receipt of the report, quickly, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), led a team of operatives to the scene and subsequently rushed the victim to Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Daura for medical attention, where she was pronounced dead by the doctor on duty.
“During the investigation, her co-wife, one Rabi’a Labaran, 23 years old, of the same address, was arrested in connection with the offence, where she confessed to the commission of the offence, stating that a misunderstanding with the deceased led to a scuffle and the tragic incident.”
Sadiq finally noted that investigations are currently ongoing and Labaran will be charged to court as soon as investigations are concluded.
The state’s Commissioner of Police (CP), Bello Shehu, urged the public to avoid all forms of domestic violence and to resist taking justice into their own hands.
He also encouraged individuals to resolve conflicts through lawful channels, emphasizing that resorting to vigilante actions only causes more harm and weakens the legal system.
