Kebbi School Abduction: Location of abducted schoolgirls identified – Senator
Authorities have identified the location of the schoolgirls abducted in Kebbi State, with strong indications that the victims remain within the Kebbi South Senatorial District, according to Senator Garba Maidoki.
Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today, the senator expressed optimism that the abducted schoolgirls from Government Girls’ Comprehensive Secondary School, Maga could be rescued soon.
“We have a fair idea where the girls are, and we are sure they have not moved outside the Kebbi South Senatorial District,” Maidoki said, adding, “There is high hope that the girls will return home in one or two days.”

The attack occurred on Monday when armed men stormed the school, killing the vice principal who attempted to prevent the abduction of about 25 students. The incident has sparked nationwide outrage and drawn international attention.
In response, the Federal Government directed security agencies to ensure the swift rescue of the girls.
Vice President Kashim Shettima, acting on the directives of President Bola Tinubu, visited the affected community on Wednesday, reiterating the administration’s commitment to recovering the students safely. Shettima, accompanied by APC National Chairman Nentawe Yilwatda and other officials, described the incident as tragic and vowed that every necessary government resource would be deployed.
Global organisations, including UNICEF, have also called for urgent action to secure the release of the students. The gravity of the situation prompted President Tinubu to postpone his scheduled foreign trips to South Africa and Angola.
The Kebbi school abduction adds to a disturbing pattern of mass kidnappings targeting educational institutions across Nigeria—a crisis that gained global prominence after the 2014 Chibok schoolgirls abduction in Borno State.
