Keep deceiving them — IPOB reacts to Enugu Gov’s sit-at-home cancellation tweet
Peter Mbah, the Governor of Enugu State, visited some places within the state on Monday, encouraging indigenes to shun the sit-at-home order issued by the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), a separatist group, and go about their businesses.
Mbah shared pictures to confirm the tours he made on his official Twitter handle on Monday afternoon.
“Today, I went round Enugu metropolis to urge our people to come out and go about their various businesses,” the governor’s Twitter post reads.
“Ndi Enugu will not continue to sit at home on Monday, the first working day of the week. We should not encourage the crippling of our economy but must work to ensure it is revived.”
Interestingly, Simon Ekpa, a principal officer in IPOB, commented under Mbah’s post, describing it as “deceitful”.

“Continue deceiving them (Enugu indigenes), you didn’t step out,” Ekpa’s comment read.
“You organised a small group of people and took pictures. Just the same thing you did with NYSC certificate. Arrangee market.
“You remain an illegitimate governor and Fulani court will kick you out on the 7th of June 2023. You can’t fight Biafra and win. After today, your life will never remain the same. We will settle when Biafra come.”
Meanwhile, a video of Ogbete market, a popular place in the state, has also surfaced online.
The video showed that the entire market place was deserted, and this meant that a part of the state indeed observed IPOB’s sit-at-home order.
During a broadcast on Sunday, Ekpa had dared Mbah to show up at the market on Monday if he truly meant the order he gave the indigenes of the state to shun the sit-at-home exercise.
These reactions followed the governor’s June 1 cancellation of the order, stating that it had continued to have a negative impact on the state’s economy.
On Sunday, Mbah threatened to indefinitely shut down businesses and schools that refused to obey his government’s instruction to open on Monday.
