Kenneth Okonkwo: Peter Obi Supporters Must Join ADC or Risk Being ‘DisObidents’
Nollywood actor-turned-politician Kenneth Okonkwo has called on Peter Obi supporters to formally join the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as the party positions itself for the 2027 elections.
Okonkwo, an ADC chieftain, made the remarks during his appearance on Channels Television’s The Morning Brief on Friday, describing Obidients who have yet to register with the party as “disObidents.”
“When I was in the Labour Party, I made a tactical mistake by telling followers they could join any party. I’m glad my brother, Peter Obi, has changed the tactic,” Okonkwo said.

He referenced Obi’s recent interview on X Space, in which the former Anambra State governor urged his supporters to register as members of the ADC.
“So, if you are an Obidient and you’re not in the ADC, sorry, you’re not a true Obidient; you are a disobidient,” Okonkwo added.
The actor-politician emphasised the party’s commitment to internal democracy, stating, “Anybody who joins the ADC must be a true democrat. One thing the ADC will not compromise on is internal democracy and living by the tenets of democracy.”
Okonkwo further noted that the party has taken time to build a solid foundation, especially in the South East, which he said has fully aligned with the ADC. He warned that politicians outside the party supporting other platforms risk aiding President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s APC ahead of the 2027 polls.
