Kidnappers release abducted Ekiti schoolchildren

The five abducted pupils and four teachers of Apostolic Faith Group of Schools, Emure-Ekiti, Ekiti State, have regained their freedom.

The schoolchildren along were released alongside their teachers in the early hours of Sunday.

The children and their teachers had been with the kidnappers since they were kidnapped last Tuesday.

It is not immediately clear if any ransom was paid or not.

The abduction of the children further underscored the heightened insecurity in the South-West state as the abduction followed the killing of two monarchs in the state a day earlier.

However, the police downplayed the two incidents, saying they were exception rather than the norm.
