Hon. Justice Richard.O. Olorunfemi has been sworn in as the fifth Chief Judge of Kogi State with a call on him to uphold the dispensation of justice without fear or favour.
With his swearing-in, Kogi State has now sworn in three chief judges, within the last fourteen months, after the demise of Justice Nasiru Ajanah.
Hon. Justice Siyaka Momoh-Jimoh Usman was also sworn in as the President of the Customary Court of Appeal.
Justice Olorunfemi and Justice Momoh-Jimoh were administered the oath of office after the brief citations of the Justices were read by the Secretary to the Government of Kogi State, Dr Folashade Ayoade Arike.
Performing the swearing-in ritual at the Glass House of Kogi State Government House, governor Yahaya Bello charged the newly sworn-in judicial officers to uphold the highest level of decorum and ensure quick dispensation of justice.
The governor, who was represented by his Deputy, Chief Edward Onoja, assured that the state government would continue to ensure that the welfare of the judiciary is given priority.
Bello assured of non-interference in the discharge of the duties of the judicial arm.
While noting that the newly sworn-in officers are people of unquestionable character and qualifications to pilot the affairs of their offices, urged them to bring their considerable history to bear in providing excellent leadership.
Bello charged the newly sworn-in Justices to discharge their duties with the fear of God, assuring of worthy partnership that will make them excel in their new assignment.
In a remark, Justice Olorunfemi, who spoke on behalf of the newly sworn-in Justices, assured of that they will ensure quick dispensation of justice in the State.
