Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has dissolved his cabinet with effect from December 31, 2020 about a year the commissioners and others members of the state executive council were inaugurated.
A statement late Sunday by the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Rafiu Ajakaye, which confirmed this, gave no reasons for the dissolution, which left only the Secretary to the State Government.
The statement, however, added, “His Excellency especially commends the honourable cabinet members for their contributions to the development of the state while also wishing them the best in their future endeavours.”
The SSG, Prof. Mamman Sabah Jubril, who retains his seat as confirmed by the statement, also forwarded a letter to the commissioner thanking them on behalf of the governor for their efforts in the past one year to improve the state and informing of the cabinet dissolution.
Governor AbdulRazaq also directed the former cabinet members to hand over to the most senior officers in their respective ministries.
The cabinet members were sworn in on December 14, 2019, comprising at least 56.25 per cent female, in what was remarkably the most gender-friendly cabinet on the African continent.
