Kwara Police Refute Viral Video Claiming Arrest of Eruku Church Attackers
The Kwara State Police Command has debunked a viral video claiming that bandits who attacked Christ Apostolic Church, Eruku, in the Ekiti Local Government Area, have been arrested.
At least 30 people were kidnapped and several others reportedly killed when gunmen raided the church on Tuesday night. A two-minute video circulating on WhatsApp and Facebook on Thursday claimed that security operatives had rounded up the attackers within 48 hours of the incident.
However, Police Public Relations Officer SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi described the claims as “completely false” and urged the public to disregard them.

Ejire-Adeyemi confirmed that no arrests have been made in connection with the attack. She added that security agencies are conducting intensified operations in and around Eruku to locate the perpetrators and ensure the safe recovery of the abducted victims.
The police spokesperson also warned against the rapid spread of unverified information during crises, noting that such misinformation could cause panic and hinder ongoing rescue efforts.
“Members of the public are advised to desist from spreading unverified videos or claims capable of causing panic or misleading the community,” she stated.
