Labour Party faction elects Nenadi Usman as interim chairman
The Labour Party on Friday elected a former Minister of Finance, Esther Nen
Usman was elected at the party’s statutory National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting held in Abuja.
A former senator for Abia Central District, Darlington Nwokocha, was elected as the party’s interim national secretary.
The election was held at the meeting attended by the President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Joe Ajaero, and the Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, among others.
The LP leaders also approved the schedule for the conduct of the ward, local government, state and zonal congresses as well as the party’s national convention.
The development is expected to escalate the LP crisis with a faction led. by Julius Abure still laying claim to the party’s leadership positions.
In his remark at the meeting, Ajaero described the LP as a party for the common man.
He urged the party members not to be discouraged by its current challenges
