Lagoon Hospital set ablaze over gunshot patient’s death
Protesters, on Tuesday, set fire to the entrance of Lagoon Hospital, Liverpool Road, Apapa, Lagos, over the death of a gunshot patient brought to the facility.
This is coming a few hours after a police station at Orile Iganmu area of the state was set ablaze.
The deceased was said to have been shot during a clash with security operatives at the #EndSARS protest spreading across the state.
The unidentified man was said to have been taken to the hospital by a motorcyclist, but was pronounced dead at the entrance by the personnel who attended to him.
The personnel were said have ordered that his remains be evacuated from the hospital.
This reportedly annoyed the protesters who set fire to the front of the hospital.
The fire was later put out.
Jimi Coker, the CEO of Lagoon Hospitals, later tweeted the hospital’s version of the events.
He stated, ”There is misinformation currently circulating on social media about the events that led to the vandalization of our Apapa Hospitals…putting the lives of staff and patients at risk.
”Victim was brought in dead by Okada man who decided to abandon body outside hospital premises.”
