Lagos begins demolition of shanties on drain setback

The Lagos State Government has started demolishing shanties erected on drainage setbacks in the Gbagada and Bariga areas.

The action follows the severe flooding on July 3, which left millions of residents stranded.

Recall that the state government has on Sunday issued a 48-hour ultimatum to the owners of the structures to vacate the areas.

Tokunbo Wahab, Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, announced the demolition on X, stating that it aims to curb flooding in the state.
