A 32-year-old man, Hassan Oluwadamilare, was on Friday arraigned before an Ebute Metta Magistrates’ Court, Lagos State, for allegedly assaulting one Zainab Kareem.
Oluwadamilare was arraigned on one count of assault.
The charge read, “That you, Hassan Oluwadamilare, on May 12, 2022, around 9:36pm at 40A, Arikeowuyo Street, Orile, in the Lagos Magisterial District, did assault one Zainab Kareem by beating her with fist blows and inflicting injuries on her right eye.”

The prosecutor, Inspector Ejembi Adelowo, said the offence was punishable under Section 173 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2015.
The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The victim, Zainab Kareem, testified before the court that she was not legally married to the defendant, but they had a son together.
The Magistrate, Mrs. O.O. Ikobayo, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N200,000, with two sureties in like sum.
She adjourned the case until June 10, 2022.
